I started Boodles of Baskets in August of 1995. To this day, I am still passionate about Boodles of Baskets, and this industry, although it has changed a great deal since I started. Some things have changed for the better, others, not so much.
For example, when I first started, most other gift basket companies, were like mine. Sole proprietors, who had a passion for the industry. If one of us couldn’t get something delivered to a specific province in time, we had others we trusted, that we could refer the customer to, and we knew they would be well cared for. Unfortunately, in Canada at least, many of these companies have closed, or been bought out by large US companies, whose primary interest is making money.
To be clear, I don’t have a problem about profiting from our businesses. If you are not making money, you are a hobby, not a business. But you can still make money while being honest and responsible to your clients.
Unfortunately, it is not that uncommon for us to hear from customers who have ordered from some companies, and then they contact us with stories of horrible experiences. That is why I STRONGLY recommend customers look at a company’s Better Business Rating. Not because our rating is A+, but because some companies have horrible ratings, even though the reviews on their sites are stellar. (Did you know that those reviews can be written by anyone, including the business). While reviews on the Better Business Bureau website are from actual experiences, from real customers. It breaks my heart when I hear stories of gifts never delivered or gifts delivered that look nothing like the picture or description, and then customers’ not being able to reach the companies to complain or get help.
Boodles of Baskets has always and will always takes care of our customers. If you call, during business hours (and many times outside of hours too), you will get a real live person. You will get what you ordered, within the time frame we promise. Have a concern? We will help you. The word “service” is not just a word to us, but a commitment that we will take care of you, from the ordering, to the delivery, and beyond, because THAT is the right thing to do.
