Doing What I Love

Many years ago (going on 14), I was a stay at home mom with three children (at the time).  My youngest daughter was starting school that fall.  I knew I wanted to move back into the workforce, but I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do.  I had a diploma in Early Childhood Education from my pre-children years, but I didn’t think this was the field I was destined to remain in.  I began to research what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.  The main elements that came to mind were 1) I wanted to be available to my children, whenever they needed me, had school trips, needed a parent volunteer, etc, etc.  2) I wanted to be able to bring in extra income to help my wonderful husband who had been our primary bread winner throughout our childrens’ early years and 3) I wanted to do something I loved.  There were many month’s of soul searching and research before I decided on this career.  I had always loved baskets.  Everything about them, their weave, material, the way they magically came together.  I remember going to Colasanti’s Tropical Gardens in Leamington, Ontario from the time I was a youngster and watching Mr. Colasanti weaving baskets.  It was amazing and the highlight of my visits.  Once I became an adult, I was able to purchase one of his baskets shortly before he passed and have treasured it ever since!
So I began. The gift basket business has evolved over the years, expanding and offering new and exciting products, but one thing has remained the same.  Every day, I love going to work, I love what I do, I get great joy out of my career and I am able to be available to my children….what more could anyone ask!
