One of the best things I ever did when I started my business was to join the Women’s Economic Forum .  This is a local group of women, many of whom own their own businesses. The group consists of young women just starting their careers to retirees.   It has been in existence for over 25 years. These ladies are only too willing to help others.  They share their expertise, support and encouragement freely.  It is a networking organization, but members take it one step further, not only referring within the group, but externally to other colleagues and friends as well.  There are so many women in this organization I admire.  We have several members who are past Athena Award Winners, as well as several women who have received various business accommodations.  Membership is generally around 75 members and our monthly meeting consists of networking, dinner, more networking and a guest speaker.  It is well worth the price of membership. I am proud to say that I now call many of these professional women “friend”.  I highly recommend these types of networking organizations to anyone who has one in their area.  Not one in the neighborhood?  Why not start your own?  Guaranteed, it will be well worth the effort.
