We introduced our cakes back in back in 2008. As far as I know, we are, to date, the only Canadian gift basket company who offers cake delivery throughout Canada. To ensure quality our cakes are baked right here and sent to arrive within 1-2 business days in order to be at their freshest.
The most popular reason our cakes are sent out are for birthdays, of course, however our amazing fruit cakes are also very popular during the Christmas season. We have sent cakes for anniversaries, as well, and even a few as get well gifts.
Our cake selections include a rich chocolate ganache, a swirled marble, a fruity blueberry, a refreshing lemon and a moist banana.

Our fresh baked cookies became an instant hit back in April 2007 when they were first introduced. We had many requests for fresh baked cookies over the previous years. Fresh baked cookies had been available in the USA for many years, but they were no where to be found in Canada. If you were looking for fresh baked cookies shipped anywhere in Canada you were out of luck.
When is it appropriate to send cookies? Over the years, our customers have sent them for birthdays, get well, as a corporate gift, Mother’s Day, Easter, Father’s Day even as a sympathy gift. We’ve had them sent to children and seniors. Why? Because everyone likes cookies. They’re soft enough for even the most delicate dentures and nothing goes better with a cold glass of milk!
So the answer to “when is it appropriate to send cookies?” That’s easy…anytime!

Gift baskets have a place in many daily celebrations. Be it a baby gift basket to celebrate the birth of a new baby , a birthday basket to acknowledge the birthday of your best friend, child or spouse, or a wedding or anniversary basket to congratulate the new couple, gift baskets, made right, have a way of bringing a smile to the faces of those lucky enough to receive them. I think it is the whole idea of gift baskets that make them so special. The doorbell rings, or better yet a delivery person approaches your desk, and there waiting for you is a beautiful, delicious looking gift basket.
Peeking through the cellophane wrapping, you can see delicious treats like fine chocolates, gourmet nuts, chocolate drizzled popcorn, and your mouth starts watering. You scrap all plans for the lunch you were GOING to eat and start thinking about what your going to devour from your gift basket first!
If a gift basket is chosen well, it doesn’t matter how many baskets the recipient receives in their lifetime, it will always be a well received and appreciated gift.

Whenever I receive a call from my customers in need of a gift, the first things I ask are “who is the gift for?”, “what is the occasion”, “is this person a child, teen or adult?” As we talk, I also like to find out what the customer would like the gift to “feel” like. Sometimes, I am already aware, if, for example, they need a sympathy gift, that it will be something more sedate and somber. However, if they’re sending it to a friend, it might be very cheery, comedic, or more formal, depending on how well they know the recipient. All of these things need to be taken into consideration when sending a gift. That is one of the reasons I expanded our gift basket business into cookies, cakes, fudge and popcorn, to ensure we can recommend something that will be just right for each and every customer.

We are the oldest, singlularly owned, gift company on the internet. Although it is hard to tell by the general public, many of the gift basket companies online are either new, or have changed owners during their years in operation.
The Boodles companies are not a franchise. They are singularly owned and operated by Cherylann Stachow since the inception of her first store Boodles of Baskets in 1995.

I am excited to report that we will be re-introducing our Fruit Frappe gift baskets. These items (shower wash and body lotion) are amazing. I can’t count the number of times that customers have called up after receiving a basket with this line of products to tell me how fabulous they are. Customers rave that the Fruit Frappe body lotion is the most moisturizing, non-greasy lotion they have ever used and the fragrances are amazing. Watch for its re-introduction in the coming weeks! I attended a food show late last week and was impressed with the wonderful offerings. There are some unique new things on the market that I’m sure will please our customers. Staying fresh and offering new items on a regular basis is a great motivator for me and I know my customers appreciate finding new things as they frequently come back again and again to order gifts for birthdays, get well, sympathy, etc for people of all ages. Whew, we’ve barely digested the Easter ham and our thoughts are turning to Mother’s Day. Maybe it is because Spring is in the air. When I think of Spring, I think of gardening. Growing up, my grandparents owned a farm. It wasn’t a large farm, but it seemed enormous when I was just 12 years old. Springtime was very busy on the farm. My family had our own family plot where we would plant all sorts of vegetables. At home, my mother would be busy preparing our family gardens for plantings. The anticipation of the amazing summer displays she created were almost to hard to wait for! I loved helping in both the family plot and the flower gardens. The tradition has stayed with me. Every Mother’s Day weekend I get out my garden gloves and tools and get to work preparing my gardens. My “gift” from my family is to let me have the whole weekend (starting Friday night) to shop for plants, prepare, and plant, my gardens and hanging baskets. Monday morning I feel like I’ve been on a mini vacation (except as I get older, every muscle in my body is struggling to move)!
Maybe this is why Mother’s Day at Boodles wouldn’t be Mother’s Day without a few gardening gift baskets. This year, we are again offering our Green Thumb gift basket as well as introducing the Le Petit Jardin basket.
